ABOUT
Lyre is the musical project of Milan-born performer, sound designer, and electronic music producer Serena Maria Brindisi. Drawing from a background spanning classical piano, physical theatre, and vocal research, her practice now moves between experimental electronics, timbral manipulation, and immersive composition.
After more than a decade working in contemporary theatre alongside figures and companies connected to the Italian experimental performance scene, Serena relocated to the UK to fully dedicate herself to music. There she deepened her focus on electronic production, sound design, and composition, developing a personal language shaped equally by contemporary music, ambient composition, deconstructed club structures, and UK bass culture.
Her sonic research revolves around the creation of hybrid and constantly shifting sonic organisms, where orchestral, vocal, and electronic elements are continuously transformed through granular synthesis, extreme sound manipulation, and dense timbral layering. Central to her work is the relationship between vulnerability and tension: fragile voices, suspended harmonies, and organic materials coexist with metallic and rhythmic interventions that interrupt their flow, generating emotionally charged and deeply physical sonic environments.
Following the release of the EP Queer Beauties (PTN Records, 2021), Lyre progressively radicalized her production approach, taking full control over the entire creative process — from composition and sound design to mixing and mastering — transforming sound production into a deeply personal and sculptural practice.
